Mom's first motorcycle road trip.

On Monday, I talked mom into going on a motorcycle road trip. It was her first. She did not really want to go but did not want to stay home alone, because I was going with or without her. We went to Silver City, Idaho. It is located about 50 miles SW of Mountain Home, Idaho. The weather was great. The scenery gorgeous. The road paved except for the last 17 miles. The mountains are old, weathered granite so the last 17 miles the road was hard with weathered out quartz crystals all over it. Kind of like riding on a gym floor covered with BB's. The night was gorgeous and unseasonably warm. I was mildly comfy all night in a cheap Wal-Mart sleeping bag on a airless thermarest on the weathered granite. Mom slept comfy in MY down bag with a pad on top of MY cot. I cooked egg, cheese, and ham breakfast sandwiches with Mountain Dew. Awesome, absolutely awesome. I hope she didn't like it too much because now she'll want to go every time and expect the same treatment.

That looks fun, Dad! And it sounds like the food and accommodations were great too. You're good at planning trips.

Mountain Dew with breakfast? Ha ha. Sounds like you had a lot of fun together. Its about time you spend some time alone together anyway.

Another 2 hours north/west, and you could have stayed with me! We play ball games in towns all around Silver City--at Jordan Valley, Oregon, and at Rimrock Jr./Sr. High school--located between Grand View and Bruneau. Quite the remote area--but beautiful! How did you pick Silver City? I love reading your blog--I can't believe I babysat your kids, who are all grown and have kids of their own! Good work!
